Presents for Children
Dr Tony Lembke, tlembke@medicineau.net.au

Last Modified 1/4/96

It is good to give children a present at the end of a consultation, either as a reward for cooperation or as encouragement for next time.

Rather than using lollies, which sets a poor example, a longer lasting treat is the wooden tongue depressor used in the examination. I still remember receiving one when a child to use for magic tricks, & I thought the doctor very generous. A quickly drawn happy face on one child, and a sad face on the other side, provides amusement all the way home.
